We’ll bathe tonight

48. The Red Market – Scott Carney

Organ harvesting, kid stealing, blood farming, boiling hair down into food additives style mayhem. This book made me super squeamish. Apparently there are many interesting things happening around the world with organs and people are being improperly paid for their kidney-based services while their real children are stolen and their uteruses are rented out to Western people and their blood is also stolen by “farmers.” These things may or may not be happening the way I’ve described…but they did factually take place all in the same country. The best part of this book, however, is the caption under a picture of a pile of skulls that states they “smelled faintly of fried chicken.”

You lookin’ for kidneys? Platelets? Hair to use as food additives?
