11. The Silver Kiss – Anita Curtis Klause
This was Twilight before Twilight existed. Published in the early 1990s, The Silver Kiss can satisfy anyone’s chaste teenage vampire needs. There’s a poet who needs someone to talk to (and her best friend just moved away!), a vampire with a smooth white chest and special silvery hair, absent parents, a lot of yearning, and random instances of gore.
I have yet to read any vampire novels that address my main question about many vampires – why are they attracted to high school girls? Are they all versions of Wooderson?
