Shhh, says the creepy lady

  1. Shutter Island – Dennis Lehane

I decided to read this because the preview of the movie was ubiquitous at my local theater. I have to say I wish the shhing lady was in the book, she was super creepy in the preview. Also, it didn’t take me terribly long to figure out the twist, but this book was well thought out and tightly paced (to rely on book review tropes). I mostly wanted to know about the shhing lady despite the allure of mental institutions on islands. Writing this makes me want to reread that Clive Barker story about the pig at the boys’ reform school, now that was a twist on the old “cop investigates an institution” story.

Pickles reacts to Murderface twisting.
